Try the lasagna-like Dori, it is awesome. Every dish was excellent in fact -- from the salad to the miso soup and complimentary sweet at the end. Great place to stop after the tourist attractions across the street.

Amazing food!!! The chef might as well be Italian. We stopped for a coffee as it started to rain pretty badly, but was tempted by pasta. The vegetable tomato pasta was delicious, so was the chef’s special (meatballs, gnocci etc). Great value as it all came with a soup and a salad! And they gave us a couple of free dessert bites - great super friendly staff!

Great little cafe/restaurant opposite temple gates. Had the Japanese set lunch which was delicious. Nice little shaded tables outside among greenery, with cool breeze. Recommended.

A lovely cafe opposite the main gate at Daitoku-ji Temple. I went to try the Daitoku natto canelé. It's the only place in Kyoto (and Japan) where you can eat this. You can't really taste the natto, except for a slightly salty addition to the caramelized pastry - It was very nice. The owner/chef was lovely and had a huge smile on her face when she greeted me, when I paid and when I asked about the canelé. Also had a pot of very flavourful hōjicha tea.

Without doubt this is the best cafe in Kyoto. The food is amazing and includes a nice range of varieties. Every dish, sauce, soup and sweet is unique and tastes great. The staff is super kind and the owners are very generous and friendly. The atmosphere is excellent. You can even have a lunch late afternoon here and enjoy the view to Daitokuji. We especially liked meat doria and balsamic chicken here. Tip: don’t miss the Canele!

A cute little place to eat! The food is nicely cooked. Looks and tastes great, every part of the meal blended well and had bursts of great diverse flavours. Everyone was very friendly, gave us even small samples to try and see if we like it! Has an English menu and they can speak English decently well :). I'd love to come back and try more, I couldn't leave unsatisfied.

The special spicy curry costed around 1300 yen, and came with some soup and salad. The soup is very good, and so is the curry. The name 'curry' here is misleading. It is more of a mixed rice dish. It has some great flavors and is not homogeneous. The soup is probably mainly mushroom but smells pretty good too. The staff seem to speak good English.
